A new ModelUN conference will be held on the 29th of May at Crandon. The activity is organized by the teacher Tamara Miguez Selayarán and the student members of the Crandon ModelUN Club. It will be a one-day virtual conference due to the current sanitary protocols, and all the Uruguayan clubs of the programme are invited to participate. 

The Crandon ModelUN Club has already decided the international issues that will be discussed during the conference, and the other clubs received the list of topics.

As appointed,, the Security Council will deliberate the situation of Sudan and South Sudan, while the GA1 (Disarmament and International Security Committee) will be responsible for debating the fostering of the implementation of worldwide nuclear disarmament commitments. The members of the GA3 (Social, Humanitarian & Cultural Committee) will debate the strengthening of the coordination of humanitarian and disaster relief assistance of the United Nations, including special economic assistance, and the GA4 (Special Political and Decolonization Committee) will be in charge of the ethical responsibilities of international corporations in war-torn regions. Lastly, the Environmental Committee will approach the issue of ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for LEDCs (less economically developed countries).

The first organizational and communication actions have already been taken while the members of the Club continue with their virtual weekly sessions. New strategies will be developed in the upcoming weeks in order to provide all the necessary information and ITT features to make this conference successful.
