The performance of The Adventures of Robin Hood consolidated an educational process connecting artistic appreciation, English learning, and values.
Second language learning at Instituto Crandon is not conceived as a mere academic or routine exercise, but rather as a lived experience integrated into the cultural and human development of our students. In line with this vision, on July 23, the Graff Hall auditorium hosted two performances of the play The Adventures of Robin Hood, staged by the theater group The Company for children of 4 and 5 years old (Inicial), and 1st and 2nd grade of Primary Education (Primaria).
Far from being an isolated event, the play served as the crowning milestone of a learning journey previously undertaken in the classroom. In the preceding days, students explored the historical context, plot dynamics, and specific vocabulary of the story. This prior preparation transformed the performance into an interactive exercise in comprehension: students deciphered clues, followed real-time prompts, and solved linguistic challenges alongside the characters, validating the language as a living vehicle for communication and reasoning.
Furthermore, choosing this classic of world literature made it possible to intertwine language acquisition with values-based education. The pursuit of justice, the value of fellowship, and the defense of the common good —core principles embedded across the institution’s educational approach— came to life on stage in a meaningful and accessible way for these early school years.
The activity concluded with an interaction between the students and the cast, leaving a lasting contribution to our institution’s collective memory. Beyond the immediacy of the show, opportunities like this reaffirm Crandon’s historical commitment to deep bilingual education, where art and pedagogy come together to leave a lasting impact on students’ educational journeys.
