Primaria

October 7th, 2024

The first, second and third year groups of Integrated Basic Education (EBI, Primaria) attended a performance of Mr. M by the theatre company Bestia Peluda on 2 October. In two performances ―one in the morning and the other one in the afternoon― a little girl, her father and a monster brought laughter and excitement to the Graff Hall.

Mr. M, a play written by Damián Barrera and Florencia Gutiérrez, won three Florencio Awards in 2012 (show, direction and actress).

The story told is simple and moving. Emma lives with her father. Every day, as a routine, the girl has a quick breakfast and goes to school. On the way back, she wants to play, but her father doesn’t have time because he has to work. He just looks, without stopping, at the drawings of monsters that she likes to make.

And for Emma’s birthday, which seems to be  like an ordinary day, a colourful monster (Mr. M) appears. He is affectionate and a little clumsy. Emma and Mr. M, the monster, spend many hours together, they get to know each other and manage to understand each other as well, even though the big bug (who is red and hairy) cannot speak. Together they have a lot of fun and, at the end of a very exciting day, when Emma goes to sleep, she discovers that someone close to her is inside that enormous creature.

The show, rich in artistic value, captivated the audience’s attention. With laughter, enthusiastic comments, and applause, the children demonstrated their deep connection with the story.
